Western Power - Case Study
Peace of mind that we have the right protection for our business
Western Power Distribution is the company responsible for electricity distribution in the Midlands, South West and Wales. Their business serves over 7.9 million customers and they employ over 6,500 members of staff
Problem
Western Power licensed a unique software application to measure the certain power usages within its geographical grids systems. The application development and license are supplied by a sole trader who holds all the knowledge to the applications creation, development and future releases. SES was tasked with ensuring the application is protected and optimised for release.
Solution
SES introduced a Multi Licensee Escrow Agreement to the Sole Trader and all of its key customers including Western Power. After consultation and evaluation, all key customers joined the Multi Agreement and shared the cost of a Remote Code Validation test between them to ensure the application could be deployed successfully in the event of Release.
Outcome
SES delivered a cost-effective, professional Escrow Agreement that covered not just Western Power but all of the Sole Traders Key customers under one Escrow Agreement sharing the costs for annual renewal Source Code Escrow and application testing.
